TFW Lintels Above Openings

Post Posted: 30.06.2006 17:06

The guide line I am trying to create needs to position the lintels 38mm down from the top of the wall edge for multiple wall heights.

I can offset the lintel to my desiered height but the same "opening type" cannot apply if I change the wall height.

Is there a way I can do this with one "opening type"?

Hi Jason

As far as I am aware, within the TFW lintels relate solely to openings and not walls - so if the opening moves, so does the lintel (and cills and cripples, etc)

Within Ground Plan, command 3 - 02 allows walls to change heights and there is a check box asking if the openings are to move (i.e. to remain static relative to the wall edge).

I guess you could set all your walls to the same height, define your openings 38mm down from the edge of the wall, assign a given opening type to your openings (as defined in the TFW) and then adjust the heights of the walls as you wish, rembering to check the box which asks if you want the openings moved.

Hope this helps and apologies if I haven't grasped what it is you want exactly.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob,

It seems that you are definitley correct by saying that the "lintels relate solely to openings and not walls."

I wanted my lintels to be placed 38mm down from the top wall edge on multiple wall heights but the same opening height. Markus said that this may be possible with the new TFW.

I attached a picture to make sence of my question.

Thanks,

Jason,

Ahhhhh, the new TFW. I can't wait for that, but I guess it will be a while yet.

Cheers

Rob
