64 Bit O/S & Dietrich's

Post Posted: 15.04.2010 15:20

Can Dietrich's run on the 64 Bit Windows 7 or is it designed for the 32 bit version?

Meghan,

One main advantage of running a 64 bit system is that you can use more RAM. I believe that the most RAM a 32 bit system can have is 4GB. 64 bit systems can have up to 16GB of RAM. Along with a good processor, you want to look for a dual or quad core - you will have a very powerful computer.

Typically, the computers designed for "gaming" use are also good for drafting and visual programs.

You also want to look for a computer that has an NVIDIA video card, as recommended by Dietrich's.

I am (again) dreaming of a new computer. But can version 7.03 run on 64 bit Windows 7??

How good is this processor and graphic card when we talk about Dietrichs:
CPU: Intel® Core™ i3-330M-processor | clockfrekvens : 2.13 GHz | Front Side Bus : 1,066 MHz | cache, andet niveau : 3 MB
Grafics: NVIDIA® | NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M med CUDA™-teknologi
The computer is with 4Gb ram, don't know if I can get it with more, if I order it.

Hello Thorvald,

Dietrich's Version 7.03 should run without problems on W7/64, however, the CPU of the laptop you chose is a pretty weak, so You shouldn't expect it to be a performance monster. I'd rather recommend a Core i5-520M or faster for best performance. The video card and the RAM size are well conditioned Wink

kind regards from Munich

Well, actually now, I am looking at to buy Toshiba Qosmio X500-11c, with i7 processor and Nvidia 360M graphic card, among other things. But I am not going to buy before August, maybe at that time I find a even better computer.
