Problems with roof. Help!

Post Posted: 05.05.2007 14:13

Crying or Very sad I am having problems with this roof. I cannot see the roof slices, and I cannot see the roof calculation in 3D and I cannot put timber into the roof elements.

The roof is divided into several prefabricated elements. I hope you have some ideas of what to do!!?

Ich antworte in deutsch, da mein Englisch sowieso keiner verstehnt Crying or Very sad
Mit geänderter Dachflächenausführung gehts, liegt wohl daran!

Hi Thorvald,
I will translate for Wutzernst. He said, when you change the options of the roof surface, it will be allright.
Look at the picture, perhaps it will work with this Wink

Thank you - but I don't have tiles and battens in my roof. It should work without - it normally does. But if it works, I can finish my job... cheeting, but who cares, if it works...? Wink

Hi Thorvald,
tiles and battens are in the roof surface of your project. But you´re right, it should work without Wink

No it doesn't help - if I go to roof design, and want to put in a ridge plate (a HE220B as in the ceiling) it says that no ridge lines are found. So this trick you showed, doesn't make any difference at all.

So now what? Other good ideas?

He, he, what I meant is that the actual house is not made with tiles and battens, but with OSB and bitumen roof. Wink

I have still not found a solution - but now I think it is time to enjoy Saturday evening. So if anyone comes up with a solution, I will be very happy. So perhaps I can make the roof tomorrow.

I think the problem comes with the lot building outlines without distance. I've checked it with one roof surface, so works good. The definition of the you can make in roof design with 7 (Systems) or you can work with with MOS elements / package in Dicam (6-6).

Regards from Italy

Ok - Mammut. Thank you for your answer. and you might be right. Because, I have done this before (working with roof elements in contrary to just work on on the whole roof). And in that case I put 5 mm between the roof building outlines, so I had a 5 mm tolerance between the elements. I could do the same here. It's easy to move the lines. I don't have "7" in roof design, and I don't understand what Dicam (6-6) is for.

Hi Thorvald,
Mammut found the mistake, I had this problem in a building, too. With distances between the surfaces it works.
With the options number 7 (Dietrichs Version 6.0x) in roof design you can build elements with all your rafters and purlins in it and 6-6 in DICAM is for making packages of your material and elements.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you can understand what I mean Embarassed Wink

Yes - the mistake is found! It works fine now. So maybe option 7 in roof design is what I have been asking for elsewhere? because we are working with prefabricated elements (cassettes) in the roof, in the same way as prefabricated walls etc. What can this option 7 do? What functions is in this option? Can I see somewhere a detailed description of the different options to the Software?

What do you mean with packages of materials and elements? And do I need it? Because if element option in roof design basicly works like wall design and ceiling design - then I think I would have what I need. Maybe you say that Diacam 6-6, can make material lists that are element wise for the roof also - but is it not already so in wall design t.ex?

It's ok doug - I understand your english - it's not so bad though!!.... Smile Wink

Hi Thorvald,
I think, someone of the Dietrichs Team could better explain the functions #7 from roof design. This is exactly for prefabricated roof-elements.
With DICAM 6-6 you can place the material lists exactly for each element (@Dietrichs: I hope, I´m right) Laughing Laughing

with the function elements in roof design you can define elements and you can add beams and panels a nd so on. I think if ypu're working with prefabricated elements is this the best way for you.

Hi Thorvald,

please use this link

www.dietrichs.com/deut...rsion-6.x/

and click on the icon "Elementierung im Dachtragwerk" to see a presentation of this function. (It is in german, I hope you don´t mind...)

Best regards,

Jens
