But it should not be very difficult to program I think (well of course I don't know). It is only to tell the program that this and this and this material / profile, belongs together so they would act as one beam.... It would be very nice, and would increase the level of the Dietrichs program.

The problem with splitting one object up into three entities in order to show the correct textures is more of the cosmetical kind.
I can understand that with the renderings you can do in our program the not quite life like appearance of the I joists is a slight draw back.

But for organizational and manufacturing purposes (lists, CNC files, drawings etc.) we need the objects to be one object and not 2 or 3.
A change here would make a better picture, but create more problems on the side we concentrate on and that is to create the relevant documents to build a house.

We are working hard on making things perfect and visualization is an area that increased dramatically in the last couple of years. But our main focus is still to make design and manufacturing work efficiently.

Yes I full understand your arguments. But with my idea the beam would act as one beam and not 3 items.

But I think for my own house, maybe I will make the I-beams manually in Dietrich and then if I make the timberlists - if I will buy the I-beams at Finnforest products, then I can list only the one flange of the I-beam, in order to see how many I-beams I need. Or if I want to produce the I-beams with my own bare hands, then I can make a normal timberlist.

The other thing that is discussing in this message is also very interesting:

Is it in any way possible to model the Inthermo N+F and the massive wood elements, with the correct cross section profile??

Those beams you want only to show, but shall not appear in any list, you can define as (german:) #Hilfsbauteil (#secondary element?).

Any elements can be added with correct cross section, as you see with my CapeCod-panels. Why not with your special creations?

Der_planner, can I ask you about how you defined the profile for your facadeboards? I mean did you put the profile coordinates in meter or in millimeter, and what units are you working with in Dietrichs construction program? That could maybe be why mine did not work.

And did you define your profile under beams or under panels or it does not matter??

I always work in "meter", except when I work with steel, then I use meters in dicam, but millimeteres in plancad.

I am used to always draw in millimeters, so that could be why my Inthermo profile got to big...

Now you can see the results of todays experiments.

For some reasons I don't understand - my massive wood elements did not work. When I try to put them into the wall, I have "Exception Access violation" - and when I define posts in settings I can also not see the items for the elements in "Itemobjectbase" but the items for my I-beams are there. And if I call the name for the elements and put into wall the program shuts down. Why??

a crash while inserting beams can occur, if the profile you entered is not closed. Please check the coordinates you entered in the project data program.

Well now it works to some extend. I am just not sure why my I-beams, Inthermo and massive wood elements are not cut correctly around windows etc?

I still wonder why my special items are not cut correctly around windows. I can understand the I-beams because I used wall macro for them.

My Inthermo and massive wood elements are cut horizontally by the window but vertical cuts into the elements doesn't appear. Would they appear if I put a horizontal normal beam as girt, and maybe also vertical all way around window, so the elements would be cut around it??
