Ceiling timbers in a wall - HELP!!

Post Posted: 23.09.2006 16:26

By a mistake a have moved ceiling timbers to a wall in MOS (I think working in MOS is very dangerous?). I was trying to copy the timbers in the one ceiling to another ceiling - but wat actually happened is that the ceiling timbers is now attached to walls. When I in MOS try to move the ceiling timbers from the wall back to the ceiling it doesn't work - but moves to another wall, that I have not checked in MOS. Why??

Maybe I am doing something wrong - exactly what boxes should be checked, unchecked and grey in MOS in order to move the timbers to the ceiling??

When you copy beams to another wall or ceiling, then be sure, that the MOS of the destiny wall (or ceiling) is actual. While copying, the program asks if MOS shall be changed: if YES, all beams will get all actual MOS. If NO, they will keep all MOS they have already.

Changing MOS:
- select all beams, that shall get another MOS.
- choose 6-4 6-5 or 6-6
- set the cursor onto the correct MOS name (for exmpl. gf1_wall2), the choice is shown with blue background.
- click on elements-ADD

now your beams are in the correct MOS.

So in my case the beams from the ceiling is in GF 1 wall 43 - in MOS that has a grey check in the check box. The GF 1 ceiling 1 is not checked.

There are three columns that can be checked. Should I check only in the middle column for GF 1 ceiling 1 and leave the check mark in wall 43 as is - and then add??

See my pictures below.

Hmmm Think I think now I did move the ceiling timbers away from the wall and from any wall (except from one problem - but first things first). I have looked through all walls and now there is now ceiling timbers in them.

... But where is the ceiling timbers. I can see it in D-cam and in ceiling design in the sections but the timbers is not shown in the plan??? It is there because I can "blind choose" a beam to change section t.ex. as you see in the picture.

I think, you did not yet understand how to put beams into an other MOS. It has nothing to do with the many little checkboxes in the menu. They are only made for setting filters to make beams visible (S) or activ (+) or set the current MOS (C).

Oh yes - if it has nothing to do with all the little checkboxes, then I did not really understand it!! (but it works to some extend). But well never mind.

I should just activate the timbers in d-cam go into MOS choose my GF ceiling 1, highlight it, and "ADD". I will try. No - it is still invisible in the plan of ceiling design - but it is there as I can see it in sections and in D-cam.

Ok - if I use shade timber view then I can see it in the plan. But why I cannot see it with normal view??

In Dicam, click on the mousewheel, choose "MOS-info" and control some beams of the ceiling, if all MOS are correct.

Sorry, no idea Sad
Maybe your computer wants a weekend Wink
Try if a new start of the program will fix it.

Slices cannot belong to another element as where they are created. Notice, that slices are not material, but only form shapes.
I think you mean the plates (OSB...). Now, how did you enter them into the ceiling? when you did it together with creating the ceiling (with the little checkbox for material) then only recalculate the ceiling. The program will reset the MOS automatically. Second way: change MOS in Dicam.

Well there is no panels / OSB at the ceiling only the timbers. And it seems like the slices appears two times when I see in preview in MOS, it is both in the ceiling and in the wall - strange. I think I will just delete that wall and make a new wall.
